Springfield man indicted after accused of bringing heroin into jail

A Springfield man has been indicted after he allegedly brought drugs into the Clark County Jail last November.

A Clark County grand jury indicted Cody Michael Lloyd, 27, 2850 Oletha Ave., on Monday on charges of illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse on the grounds of a specified governmental facility, possession of heroin and aggravated possession of drugs.

On Nov. 30, Lloyd was brought by sheriff’s deputies to the Clark County Jail on several outstanding warrants. Deputies also had reports Lloyd was allegedly holding drugs, according to court records.

No drugs were found initially but a deputy claimed he saw Lloyd run to the toilet and heard metal on metal. The deputy found a pill case Lloyd allegedly had hidden in his sock. After taking his socks off, a deputy alleged he found a bag of heroin and a straw with residue on it.

The Clark County grand jury also returned the following indictments on Monday:

Nicholas Aaron Vanzant, 37, 329 Rawson Dr, New Carlisle: Theft of drugs.

Joseph B. Edwards, 41, 304 E. Main St., Medway: Aggravated possession of drugs.

Tessa Marie Roberts, 27, 717 N. Florence St.: Endangering children.

John William Eugene Chambers, 47: Failure to register a change of new address.

Joseph Christopher Caudill, 27, 301 N. Belmont Ave.: Three counts of possession of drugs.

Joseph P. Martin, 43: Failure to register a change of new address.

Billy Horn, 33, 1663 Scarff Rd., New Carlisle: Aggravated trafficking in drugs, aggravated possession of drugs.

Christopher Owen Peterson, 24, 239 W. Grand Ave.: Having weapons under disability.

Thomas W. Neer, 31, Grove City: possession of heroin, aggravated possession of drugs.

Krusean Laron Wilkerson, 27, 841 N. Limestone St., Apt ½: Two counts of receiving stolen property.
