Flood Watch issued; Rainy and windy today

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Flood Advisory for portions of Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery and Preble counties until 10:45 a.m. today. A Flood Watch has been issued for Butler, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Warren counties until 1 p.m.

Between 1 to 1.5 inches of rain have fallen and minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin in the area. An additional 0.5 to 1 inch of rain is possible.

Motorists are reminded to turn around when they encounter flooded roads. People in the Flood Watch area should be prepared to take action if flooding develops.

Showers will continue this morning with thunderstorms possible through the late morning and early afternoon.

Today brings an 80% chance of rain showers and a possible thunderstorm before 10 a.m., the NWS said. Gusty winds may be likely, ranging from 11 to 16 mph and possibly increasing to 26 mph during the later afternoon and early evening.

Cooler temperatures settle in by evening with a low of 42. The colder weather could result to some scattered snow showers. The chance for flurries continues into Tuesday morning.

Tonight brings calmer weather as the storms dissipate, leaving a mostly cloudy night. Winds will become more tranquil by nighttime.

The low will be around 31 degrees.

Tuesday will be cloudy with some moments of sunshine. Cooler temperatures will remain, with highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s.

Tuesday night is mostly cloudy with a low of 32.

Wednesday sees slightly warmer temperatures with a high of 52 degrees. The day will be mostly sunny and bright.

Wednesday night is clear and cool with a low temperature of 32 degrees.

Thursday is sunny with a high of 56 degrees.

Thursday night sees a low of 38 degrees and a mostly cloudy nighttime with rain trickling back in Friday.
