Warm, but windy today and tomorrow; Rain possible on election night

As high pressure to the east of the region moves further away, southerly flow will become established and increase for the early part of the week, which will bring temperatures to warm well above normal.

Skies will be partly sunny today with a high of 76 degrees and gusty winds, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. The record high for Dayton on Nov. 4 is 76 degrees.

Winds could gust from 13 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Tonight will be partly cloudy but gusty yet again. Winds could gust from 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. The low will fall to 62 degrees.

The NWS said showers will start to spread into the area late Tuesday ahead of a cold front that will move through late Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Tuesday will be mostly dry during the day, with rain chances starting in the evening. Otherwise it will be partly sunny but breezy. Wind gusts could gust as high as 35 mph. The highs will be near 78 degrees. The record for Nov. 5 is 76 degrees, according to NWS.

Tuesday night brings additional rain showers and breezy conditions of 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. The lows will be near 58 degrees. Showers will continue overnight and into Wednesday morning.

Rain chances will decrease in the late morning and early afternoon, with a slight chance for showers lingering for the rest of the day.

Otherwise, Wednesday will be partly sunny with a high of 69 degrees, followed by a partly overcast night as lows fall around 49 degrees.

Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high of 67 degrees. Thursday night will be mostly clear with a low of 42 degrees.
