Week 1 roundup: Northwestern rolls in season opener

The Northwestern High School football team steamrolled visiting Southeastern on Friday night, jumping out to a 34-0 halftime lead en route to a 37-7 win in their season opener at Taylor Field.

The Warriors beat Southeastern in the opening week for the third straight season.

Northwestern hosts Clark County rival Northeastern next week, while Southeastern hosts Graham.

West Liberty-Salem 41, Graham 0: Trevor Woodruff had two touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown as the Tigers rolled past the Falcons.

Trent Barry scored touchdowns on runs of 5 and 18 yards for the Tigers, while Holden Nease added a 14-yard TD score.

Rosedale and Trevor Burden each caught TD passes in the victory.

The Tigers travel to Benjamin Logan next week.

London 62, Urbana 7: The Hillclimbers fell to the Red Raiders for the third straight season.

Urbana travels to Mechanicsburg in Week 2.

Stebbins 19, Greeneview 0: Marvelous Rutledge, Nate Keller and Jeremy Holloway each had TD runs for the Indians.

The Rams travel to Waynesville next week.

Worthington Christian 27, Northeastern 14: The Warriors led 21-7 at halftime to beat the Jets in their season opener.

The Jets travel to Northwestern next week.

Fairborn 36, Tecumseh 0: The Skyhawks jumped out to a 27-0 halftime lead and never looked back in Randy Kerns' first victory as Fairborn's head coach.

The Arrows travel to Carroll next week.

Mississinawa Valley 24, Cedarville 7: The Blackhawks led 24-7 at the half, earning their first victory of the season.

Cedarville travels to East Clinton in Week 2.

Upper Scioto Valley 38, Catholic Central 6: Cole Ray hit Tyler Young on a 21-yard TD pass for the Irish, who travel to Arcanum next week.
