An outstanding sprinter, the 5-10, 180-pound Brown-Stephens inherits the role of go-to receiver. He had 24 catches for 341 yards (14.2) and accounted for five touchdowns last season. He also had five kickoffs for 134 yards (26.8) and two punt returns for 31 yards (15.5).

Brown-Stephens was a key relay member of the Wildcatsâ track and field team this past spring that placed third as a team in the Division I state meet. Heâs rated a 3-star prospect by 247sports.com and had other offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky, Kent State, Kentucky, Toledo and Youngstown State.

Springfield was 6-4 last season and 1-3 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference National East. Preseason practice begins Monday, July 30. Springfield will host Lancaster in a season opener at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24.
