HS Roundup 5/4: Xenia baseball and softball win league titles

The Xenia softball team secured a share of a league title for the first time since 1987 on Friday.

Xenia upset state-ranked Greenville 5-3 to capture a split of the Greater Western Ohio Conference South title with Fairborn.

The Xenia baseball team won the South division outright on Tuesday, marking the first league title in 21 years.

Baseball

Lebanon 5, Fairmont 2: Jackson Palcic earned the victory on the mound and Tyler Inloes blasted a three run homer to lead Lebanon.

Northeastern 8, West Jefferson 1: Garrett Peters struck out eight, Dylan Hand drove in a pair of runs on three hits and Northeastern upset unbeaten West Jefferson.

Coldwater 10, Lima Central Catholic 0: Jacob Wenning and Cole Frilling collected a pair of hits and Ross Weigel earned the win on the mound to lead Coldwater.

St. Henry 8, Van Wert 1: St. Henry scored seven times in the top of the sixth inning. Daylon Froning, Ryan Bruening and Parker Link each had run scoring singles.

New Bremen 11, Lehman Catholic 1: Luke Vonderhaar doubled and drove in a pair of runs for New Bremen.

Softball

Northmont 13, Wayne 3: Cassy Lewis tallied four hits, Anna Mangen added two and Sydney Weaver and Marissa Bardonaro each doubled to pace Northmont.

Badin 11, Fenwick 1: Nicole Rawlings struck out 11 and Josie Link and Emma Kent each doubled and drove in three runs to pace Badin.

Monroe 20, Oakwood 1: Alyssa Wagner and Hailey Stevens combined on a one-hitter to help Monroe clinch a second straight Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern title.

Mechanicsburg 8, Fairbanks 3: Kasey Schipfer drove in a pair of runs and Megan Alspaugh and Audrey Ayars added two hits apiece for ‘Burg.

Defiance 11, Coldwater 1: Madissen Geeslin went 2-for-3 in the loss for Coldwater.

Boys Tennis

Preble Shawnee 5, Franklin 0: Pierce Elliott, Luke Feck and the doubles duo of Hayden Brown and Austin Carter each won without allowing a point.

Boys Volleyball

Beavercreek 3, Centerville 1: Beavercreek rallied after dropping the first set to secure a league title.

Track & Field

West Liberty-Salem Invitationals: Robie Glass won the 200 meter dash and Shawnee won the 400, 800, 1600 and 3200 meter relays to take first place for the boys. West Liberty-Salem won on the girls side, setting a meet record in the 400 meter relay.
