HS Roundup 1/21: ‘Burg girls win key OHC matchup

Mechanicsburg took control of the Ohio Heritage Conference North with a 50-28 win against West Liberty-Salem in girls basketball on Tuesday.

‘Burg went on a 20-5 run in the second quarter and a 15-3 run in the third to pull away.

Kasey Schipfer scored 11 of her game-high 24 points and Grace Forrest scored six of her 13 points in the second quarter to lead Mechanicsburg.

Selena Weaver paced WLS with 10 points.

Each team was unbeaten in conference play entering the contest. The win bumped ‘Burg to 15-1 overall and 11-0 in the OHC.

The loss ended a ten-game win streak for WLS, which dropped to 13-2 and 11-1.

Girls Basketball

Fort Loramie 80, Miami East 20: Undefeated Fort Loramie took off after a slow start, led by Kennedi Gephart, Dana Rose and Marissa Meiring with 13 points apiece. Jadyn Puthoff and Kenzie Hoelscher each added 12 points and Fort Loramie recorded 22 assists as a team.

Franklin Monroe 61, Brookville 21: Corina Conley poured in 28 points, including six three-point baskets, to help Franklin Monroe improve to 14-2. Stella Shellabarger added 11 points and Belle Cable 10.

Lehman Catholic 45, Houston 28: Lehman Catholic opened the game on a 12-1 run and rode the hot start to victory. Lauren McFarland led the way with 15 points and Anna Cianciolo added 11.

New Bremen 56, Jackson Center 28: Kaylee Freund scored 18 points, Kira Bertke added 12 and Madison Cordonnier 11 for New Bremen.

Boys Basketball

Beavercreek 62, Springboro 56: ‘Creek rallied in the final quarter for the win. Adam Duvall paced ‘Creek with 19 points and Yousef Saleh tacked on 15.

Belmont 71, Winton Woods 66: Shawn Phillips recorded 23 points to pace Belmont.

Fairlawn 75, Triad 53: Ashton Piper scored all 21 of his points in three quarters for Fairlawn and Skyler Piper added 18. Ayden Spriggs put up 18 points for Triad.

Greeneview 68, Washington CH 40: Carter Williams recorded 23 points, Rhett Burtch added 13 and Gabe Caudill 12 for Greeneview.

Greenon 61, Madison Plains 51: Clayton Minteer drilled five three-point baskets on the way to a game-high 20 points for Greenon. Jaden Journell added 17 points and Luke Downing 11.

Jefferson 48, Middletown Christian 43: Janson Kincer netted 15 points for Jefferson, which won a fourth consecutive conference game for the first time since joining the Metro Buckeye Conference. Alan Holtrey led Middletown Christian with 12 points.

Miamisburg 57, Piqua 51: Alex Ball paced Miamisburg with 17 points and Luke Copsey and Anthony Coppock added nine apiece.

Minster 72, Lima Perry 60: Trent Roetgerman netted 19 points and Jacob Salazar and Justin Nixon tacked on 16 apiece to pace Minster, which took control with a 22-13 run in the third quarter.

Oakwood 72, Bellbrook 67: Darren Rubin finished with 26 points to help Oakwood hold off a rally effort from Bellbrook. Sam Montgomery chipped in 14 points for Bellbrook.

Stebbins 54, Northridge 53: Nate Keller led four players in double-digit scoring for Stebbins with 14 points. Jakob Reed added 13 and Jalen Tolbert 11. Darryl Story Jr. had 23 points for Northridge.

Stivers 58, Miami Trace 52: DaJuan Allen tallied 23 points and Allen Lattimore added 21 to lead the way for Stivers.

Taylor 80, New Miami 62: Deanza Duncan chipped in 20 points and Jordan Robinette added 17 in a losing effort for New Miami.

Tecumseh 85, Northwestern 83: Easton Lewis and Collin O’Connor combined for 49 points to lead the way for Tecumseh.

Troy Christian 53, Dayton Christian 48: Troy Christian held off a Dayton Christian second-half rally to improve to 8-1 in the Metro Buckeye Conference. Devin Dreier netted 18 points for DC.

Ben Logan 2123, Indian Lake 2055: Timmy Porter tallied a 391 series and Brady Stover a 368 for Ben Logan.

Carroll 2450, Roger Bacon 2220: Michael Goubeauex shot a 412 series to lead unbeaten Carroll.
