Wittenberg University removed the interim tag from Kelly Mahlum’s title, and she will continue to coach the women’s basketball team in the 2017-18 season. She is the eighth head coach in school history.

Wittenberg made the announcement Friday. Mahlum took over the program when Sarah Jurewicz went on maternity leave last season. The Tigers went 10-16 under Mahlum.

Jurewicz will remain with the university as an instructor in the Health, Fitness, and Sport Department and in the Masters of Art in Coaching program. Her final record in nine seasons was 132-106.

Mahlum was the head coach at Greensboro College (N.C.) from 1999-2001 and at Colorado College from 2001-08. She joined Jurewicz’s staff in 2011.
