Wisconsin wide receiver Danny Davis, a 2017 Springfield High School graduate, announced Monday night he will return to the Badgers to play the 2021 season.

Davis caught three passes for 78 yards in 2020, including a 53-yard touchdown in the first game of the season. He missed five of Wisconsin’s seven games because of injuries. He will be a fifth-year senior next fall. The NCAA announced before last season it wouldn’t count 2020 against anyone’s eligibility.

Wisconsin opens the season against Penn State on Sept. 4 in Madison, Wis.

“I’m so grateful for my time playing football at Wisconsin. Even though it was difficult for me to not be on the field with my brothers for most of the 2020 season, it only made me hungrier to get back and help the team,” Davis wrote on Twitter and Instagram. ”I love this program. And there’s great things coming for us in 2021. I’m excited to return to Madison for my last season.”

In four seasons, Davis has caught 99 passes for 1,164 yards. He has 12 receiving touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns.
