KR grad Eaton honored by Diamondbacks

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Kenton Ridge graduate Adam Eaton was honored by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday with the Aurelio Rodriguez Award. The award is given to the Diamondbacks minor league player who best exemplifies character on and off the field, who is a good teammate and who comes to the ballpark every day ready to play.

Rodriguez, who died in 2000, played for seven teams from 1967 to 1983. He won the Gold Glove in 1976.

Eaton was drafted in the 19th round by the Diamondbacks last June after three seasons at Miami University. He played his first season with the Rookie Level Missoula Osprey and was runner-up in Pionor League MVP voting. This season, he will play for the Advanced Class-A Visalia (Calif.) Rawhide. The Rawhide open the season April 7.
