Blue Knights set school wins record

Urbana University’s QB scores 5 TDs as team improves record to 7-3.

GREENSBURG, Pa. — Urbana University quarterback D.J. Mendenhall scored five touchdowns as the Blue Knights football team set a school record for wins in a season with a 40-21 victory over host Seton Hill on Saturday.

Mendenhall went 19-for-25 passing for 313 yards and two touchdown passes as Urbana improved to a school-best 7-3 record. Mendenhall ran for two more touchdowns and was on the receiving end of an Evan Gehlert 11-yard TD pass. This is the first time in Mendenhall’s career that he has ran, thrown and caught a touchdown in the same game.

After falling behind 7-0 in the first quarter to the Griffins (1-9), the Blue Knights scored the next 40 points.

The Urbana offense went over 500 total yards for the second time this season with 505. It had 520 yards of total offense against Kentucky Wesleyan on Oct. 8.

Matt Hightower led the offense in receiving with nine catches for 126 yards. Joe Webb, a Mechanicsburg High grad, had three catches for 110 yards, including touchdown grabs of 31 and 67 yards.

Linebacker Drew Underwood led the defense with 10 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble. Cornerback Vincent Corner, a North grad, had nine tackles and an interception. Safety Juan McKeever and cornerback Wes Edwards also had interceptions for Urbana.

The Blue Knights will host Lincoln University in the season finale next Saturday at noon.
