MORE POPULAR STORIES: 4 hidden restaurant gems you might not have tried in Clark County
Background/overview:
Kone Korner was opened in 1978 by Jim Stanley and his school chum Ned Bahan. They held the company together for two years, and then Jim’s brother Joe Stanley (who is said to have originated the name “Kone Korner”) and wife Marilyn Stanley bought it to carry the business forward.
Today, Joe and Marilyn are semi-retired and their daughter Lora Brown is the general manager of Kone Korner. Just as she and her brother Mark Stanley did as children, Lora and husband Mike Brown’s four children help with this family treasure by selling hand-dipped and soft-serve (Ohio-produced) ice cream, frozen treats, fresh sandwiches and specialty subs. The Kone Korner crew credits their 38 seasons of success to continuity: “We still have your favorites!”
