Earhart, William B.
William B. Earhart, a dedicated patriot and cherished member of his community, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on January 23, 1941, in Dayton, Ohio, to Clarence and Fleeta (Cunningham) Arehart, Bill lived a life marked by service, honor, and devotion. Bill answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army Air Force, proudly contributing to the defense of our nation. He carried his sense of duty beyond his military service, becoming an impassioned advocate for Military Veteran Affairs. With steadfast dedication, Bill worked to ensure that all veterans received the recognition and honor they deserved, touching countless lives through his efforts. As a skilled mechanic and former volunteer fireman, Bill brought expertise and selflessness to every endeavor, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was a proud member of DAV Chapter 14 in Vandalia and DAV Chapter 13 in Springfield, where he formed enduring bonds with fellow veterans and their families. Bill's love for his country and community was matched only by his devotion to his family. He is survived by his loving fiancé, Linda M. Daugherty; his children, William B. (Brenda) Arehart Jr., Denise (Jim) Tunnell, and Angela (Joe) Johnson; and five grandchildren: Jenni, Victoria, Elizabeth, Alex, and Chris. His legacy extends further to his nine great-grandchildren and his siblings, Ruth McMillian, Wanda Miller, and Polly (Alan) Perkins. He was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his father Clarence Arehart, stepmother Marica Burt Earhart, and Mother Fleeta Arehart, as well as his siblings Michel Arehart, Jack Arehart, Margaret Shock, Clarence Ray Arehart Jr., and Fleeta I. Gary. His faithful companion, his beloved cat Pretty Girl, also held a special place in his heart. A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service. Following the service, Bill will be laid to rest with full military honors at McConkey Cemetery in Catawba, where his service to his country will be commemorated one final time. Bill Earhart's unwavering commitment to his country, his fellow veterans, and his family will forever remain an inspiration. May his legacy of service, patriotism, and love live on in the hearts of all who knew him. To view his memorial video or leave online condolences, please visit www.littletonandrue.com
