NEW DETAILS: Springfield man charged with attempted murder after woman shot

A Springfield man has been charged with attempted murder and additional charges related to a shooting on Monday.

Joey M. Davis, 42, of Springfield, was arrested and is charged with attempted murder and felonious assault, according to a city spokesperson. Additional charges against Davis are tampering with evidence, discharge of firearm on or near prohibited premises and improperly discharging firearm at or into a habitation, in a school safety zone or with intent to cause harm or panic to persons in a school building or at a school function.

Davis was taken to the Clark County Jail.

A woman, identified in an incident report as Cheryl Logan, was rushed to the hospital after her boyfriend allegedly shot her in the chest, according to a Springfield Police Division incident report. Her condition was not known Tuesday afternoon, the city spokesperson said.

CareFlight was originally put on standby, but was later canceled.

An argument reportedly preceded the shooting.

Springfield police said the shooting was reported at 5:52 p.m. in the area of Limestone Street and Fremont Avenue on the south part of the city.

Police found Davis in an alley between 111 and 119 Fremont Avenue, and officers took him into custody, police said.
