“Upward Bound gives the high school student an opportunity to learn first-hand what college life is all about and helps the student develop those skills necessary to succeed in college. The program emphasizes reading, writing, math, study skills and science. In addition, personal, career, financial aid and academic counseling is provided,” the release stated.
During the summer, program students live on campus for six weeks and participate in a variety of activities, the release stated. After graduating high school, students then attend the summer “Bridge” program where they’re given the opportunity to earn eight college credits from Wittenberg.
To be eligible to participate, students must be entering grade 9-11 and live within the City of Springfield and the Springfield City School District.
To request an application or for more information, contact Mr. Michael Perry, assistant director at 937-327-7535 or visit the website at www.wittenberg.edu/academics/upwardbound.
