What’s happening this weekend: Craft show, winery event and more

A look at events happening in the area this weekend:

Clifton Festival

The annual Clifton Gorge Music & Arts Festival will be held from 4 to 11 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday in the Village of Clifton alongside Clifton Gorge in Greene County.

The event will feature back-to-back live music, displays of arts and crafts, as well as vendors for shopping and eating, activities for the kids, plus a beer tent.

Folck Winery Event

Folck Winery will host a Summer Fair at noon on Saturday at 6843 State Route 54 in Mechanicsburg.

There will be food trucks from noon to 7 p.m., a farmers market at 6 p.m. and R-Time band at 7 p.m.

Craft and Vendor Show

The Red Sunflower craft and vendor show will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Champaign County Fairgrounds.

This is a fundraiser for the Champaign County Animal Welfare League. Admission is $3 cash plus a kindness donation to the shelter such as window cleaner, dog food, dog toys, paper towels, trash bags, anything to help out the shelter.

There are 70+ vendors, food trucks, and more. There will be animals available for adoption on site.

U-pick Flowers

A “U-pick Flowers” event will be held at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Petals on the Pike, 6730 New Carlisle Pike in Springfield.

When you arrive, check-in, sign the guest book, pick up a jar and clippers under the white tent, and u-pick over 75 varieties of flowers. Before leaving, your flowers will be transferred from the large, glass jar to a cup that will fit in your car’s cup holder.

The cost is $20 for large, quart sized jars or $75 for a bucket.

Urbana Library Activities

The Champaign County Library, 1060 Scioto St., will host several activities this weekend:

Cricut Savings Jar will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

LEGO Club will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday.

Fiber Arts Group will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday.

Marathon

Northwood Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation will host the third annual 5K marathon run and walk starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday at 2000 Villa Drive.

This will be a charity run for spinal muscular atrophy.

Soccer Competition

The Springfield Optimist Club will sponsor their Annual Tri-Star Soccer Competition from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Lincoln Elementary School, 1500 Tibbetts Ave. Registration begins at 11 a.m.

More than 75 kids will attend. This is a free event, open to the public where boys and girls ages 4 through 13 test their skills at dribbling, shooting, passing, throw-ins, juggling and punting. Awards will be presented to the top three participants, but the emphasis is more on fun and less on competition. Many free soccer balls are given away. Springfield High School’s soccer team will help each of the participants, instructing them on how to succeed at soccer.

Museum Tours

The Pennsylvania House Museum will host tours from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at 1311 W. Main St. Admission is $10 for adults and $3 for children.

Hunting Tournament

The Springfield Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #72 and FOPA associates #7 are having their annual indoor hunting tournament from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Springfield Eagles Lodge, 1802 Selma Road.

There will be dinner, raffles, games and a “hunt” for a moose, elk and white tail deer.

A portion of the proceeds will support a legacy gift funds for the Clark County Sheriff’s office to purchase a K-9 in the future, as well as other worthwhile charitable causes.

Wine Tasting

The Woman’s Town Club will host the annual Buchwalter House Foundation wine tasting fundraiser at 4 p.m. on Saturday at 805 E. High St.

The event includes a sampling of five wines, gourmet charcuterie boards, door prizes, wine pull and silent auction and local artist gallery.

Car Cruise

The American Legion Post 176 will hold their 30th annual “Cruizin the Park” car cruise from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at the South Charleston Community Park.

The event will include the Legion’s “famous” pork chop dinners, along with other concessions, and local DJ Tony Cooper will provide music.

The event is free, with door prizes, 50/50 drawing, and all motor vehicles are welcome. The proceeds from the event go to the Post 176-Rick Woods Scholarship Fund.

Music Event

Master Gardener Volunteers of Clark County will present the music from After Rain on Monday at Snyder Park Gardens & Arboretum.

Bring your lawn chairs, tour the gardens, then settle in for an evening of music.

The performance is open to the public and free of charge. Donations will be accepted to help support future programming.

Food Pantry
