“Everyone who was involved in this crash, they were very fortunate there was property damage only, despite the rather dramatic appearance of the overturned car in the middle of the roadway,” said Lt. Kristopher Shultz of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
He said a blue Nissan with one occupant came to the stop sign and failed to yield to traffic on West National Road. The Nissan collided with a Buick SUV that had three people inside, including two students. The SUV overturned on West National Road.
“Anytime you have an overturned vehicle, the extrication of the occupants is always a challenge, for everyone, not just for the people in the car but also for emergency services as well,” Shultz said.
Emergency personnel were nearby when the call for help came, in the area because of a fire that left one man dead.
Shultz, however, said the occupants were able to free themselves by crawling out the windows and with help from passersby.
Bethel Twp. EMS personnel checked on the people involved, and no one required transport or treatment.
Traffic on the U.S. route was blocked for about an hour after the crash.
The sheriff’s office, with assistance from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, is investigating.
