The Clark State Performing Arts Center will kick off the new “Close to Home Community” Series tonight.
Country and classic rock band Leadfoot will begin the series with a performance at 6 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center, located at 300 S. Fountain Ave. in Springfield.
The event is to be held outdoors, but will be moved to the Kuss Auditorium if rainy weather sets in.
The events in this series are free of charge. Food trucks and a cash bar will be available at the site.
Attendees of the “Close to Home Community” series are encouraged to bring their own seating, as well as follow current state health instructions for physical distancing and face coverings.
IndieCraft 2021
IndieCraft is returning to Springfield this weekend, starting tonight.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. at Mother Stewart’s Brewery in Springfield, located at 102 W Columbia St.
Tonight will include regional craft brews on tap, along with two live bands, Stringus Khan and Motherfolk.
The event will continue through Saturday, starting at 4 p.m. with nine visiting breweries serving in the outdoor area, along with six food trucks.
Six bands will perform Saturday, alternating between the indoor and outdoor stages. The lineup includes In The Pines, New Moons, The Story Changes, American Landscape, Katawicks, and Speaking Suns.
Admission is free. Tasting tickets may be purchased for beer.
Rock The Monument Four Miler
Urbana’s Monument Square District will be hosting a 4-mile run/walk event tonight.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. at Melvin Miller Park in Urbana, located at 731 Children’s Home Rd.
Registration is available prior to the race day, and also can be done on the day of the event.
Pre-registration costs $25, and registration on the day of is $30. Leaders of groups as large as six may call 937-215-7416 for discount in registration costs.
Check-in will begin at 5:30 p.m. rain or shine. A packet will be given to participants, including water and a healthy snack.
10% of all proceeds will go towards the 150th year celebration of the Man on the Monument.
Course is stroller and dog friendly. Pets must be leashed.
Awards for the Overall Male Winner and Overall Female Winner will be presented, as well as second- through fourth-place recognition.

Family StoryWalk for Teens & Tweens
The New Carlisle Library is hosting an outdoor reading event for families with middle schoolers and high schoolers this Saturday.
The event will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Smith Park, located at 801 W. Jefferson St. in New Carlisle.
The Smith Park walking trail will be changed to a StoryWalk for the two hours, featuring the first chapter of an Alan Gratz book along the path.
Upon completion of the walk, each family will be able to select an Alan Gratz book to take home.
Pre-registration is requested in advance, and can be done by emailing readingisimportant@gmail.com.
The event will be rescheduled if rainy weather sets in.
Second Saturday: Urbana
Second Saturday will take place in downtown Urbana this Saturday.
The event will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Second Saturday will feature live music, sidewalk artisans, food trucks, and extended hours in the evening for shopping.
The event is hosted by the Downtown Urbana Merchants Association. This month’s event sponsors are Guild Galleries, and Wallace and Turner Insurance.

Salato Deli: Taste of Maine
Salato Deli will be holding its much anticipated Taste of Maine event Sunday.
The Maine-inspired specials will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the deli, located at 40 N. Fountain Ave. in Springfield.
The menu will include Maine-style lobster rolls, Red Hot dogs, Pier fries, whoopie pies, Maine Beer Company Lunch IPA on tap, and Sea Dog Brewing Company wild blueberry wheat ale.
