Dillin explained that they decided to not move forward with the 6 feet social distancing that they had originally planned because of the new information. The event was rescheduled because they needed additional time to reconfigure the parking plan - creating more space between cars.
The drive-in/tailgate style event that was previously scheduled for Friday, July 31 will now take place 7 to 10 p.m. on Labor Day.
The planned events - live music, food trucks, fireworks and a show featuring skydiving and pyrotechnics - will still take place.
“We created an event that has a skydiving performance from a world-renowned, world record-holding team called team Fastrax, and we included some live music because people love live music,” Dillin previously told the News-Sun. “We included food trucks because people love food, and we engaged a third-party researcher to help us with our parking plan so that we could maximize the social distancing while in a tailgate style so that people wouldn’t have to sit in their cars, but could certainly sit behind their car, and still fit safely with other cars around them.”
Admission is $35 per car, $50 for an SUV and $150 for RVs.
Proceeds are to be donated to the Clark County Agricultural Society Endowment and the Springfield Foundation Four Corners development
The Freedom Tour will begin Aug. 7 at Lidner Family Tennis Center in Mason. Other scheduled events include Aug. 8 in Waynesville, Aug. 22 in West Carrollton, Aug. 29 in Toledo and Sept. 4 in West Chester.
