Tecumseh Local School District will continue with the blended learning plan for some students through the end of November due to an increase in coronavirus cases, the district superintendent said.

“Due to an influx in the number of COVID-19 positive case, resulting in elevated quarantine cases in our area, we will remain in our current blended learning model through the end of November,” Superintendent Paula Crew said.

Crew said this decision was also because the Clark County Health Commissioner advised districts who are currently using blended learning to remain on that model through Thanksgiving break.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and share future learning model plans with you toward the end of November. There is a high possibility that we will continue with this learning model until winter break.” she said.

Cohort A attends school on Monday and Tuesday and Cohort B attends school on Thursday and Friday, Crew said. Wednesdays are used for remote learning and deep cleaning the schools.

“We elected this blended learning model, so if we have an influx of COVID cases in one Cohort we can transition this Cohort to remote learning. The other Cohort, if possible, could remain in the school setting, thus maximizing the number of students who can still attend in-person learning,” Crew said.

According to the district’s COVID-19 dashboard for the week starting Nov. 9, there are 11 confirmed and 25 quarantined cases at Tecumseh High School; one confirmed and 21 quarantined cases at Tecumseh Middle School; two confirmed and nine quarantined cases at New Carlisle Elementary; 17 quarantine cases at Donnelsville Elementary and six quarantined cases at Park Layne Elementary.

Students who learn virtually will continue to do so through the end of the quarter.

The district transitioned to the blended learning model for the second quarter on Oct. 26 after starting the year with remote learning for the first quarter.
