5 injured in Springfield shooting

SPRINGFIELD — Five people were shot at the same location just southeast of downtown Saturday night, according to Springfield police.

The incident happened just before 11 p.m. on York Street, near Kenton and Summer streets, just north of Selma Road. York Street remained closed just before midnight.

As of Sunday afternoon, Springfield police said there’s no new information regarding suspects. .

Two of the victims were being taken to the hospital via CareFlight helicopter, according to police. Some were taken to a local Springfield hospital, then to Miami Valley Hospital, police added.

The conditions of the victims still remain unknown.

Police launched two drones to get aerial video of the area around the shooting scene. They were also examining cars on the street that had their windows or windshields shot out.
