When police arrived, they spoke with fire personnel that said they believe the fire started in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
Officers then spoke with the victim who said he was inside his residence when he realized his vehicle that he recently bought was on fire, the report said.
“(The victim) stated that he did not witness anyone near his vehicle before the fire broke out,” the report said.
Police also found damage to the siding and windows on the south side of the residence, as well as damage of burnt siding to the west side of the next door residence.
“This damage consisted of burnt siding and broken windows due to the vehicle fire,” the report said.
No suspect or witness information was available.
Springfield Police and Fire Divisions continue their investigation into this arson incident.
