A Springfield man who told a police dispatcher he had killed his girlfriend before he shot himself on New Year’s Day died at the hospital, police confirmed six days after his death.

Stanley Casimir called police to describe what he had done at apartments on 725 Villa Road before leading them on a short chase and shooting himself, according to the Springfield Police Division. He was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center, and then to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, which is the region’s top trauma center, where he died Jan. 3, police said on Thursday.

Casimir said in a 911 call that his girlfriend, identified in a report as Rodline Anacreon, had kicked him out the previous night and that on Wednesday he shot her multiple times. He said he was in the nearby Kroger parking lot in a black Ford Fusion with the gun in his lap.

The police pursuit went northbound on Derr, west on Ohio 334, and then southbound on U.S. 68, before Casimir’s vehicle ran off the road just north of Ohio 41.

Another caller to police that night, who identified herself as the victim’s sister, said the woman was on the sidewalk outside, bleeding. She said her sister’s ex had made threats a few days prior that he would shoot her twice in the head due to her leaving him.
