Officers were dispatched on May 28, 2019 to Springfield Regional Medical Center on a report of a sexual assault, according to an affidavit filed in the case.
When police arrived, they spoke with the victim who said she rented a hotel room the night before for her and her friends. After her friends left, Hammond showed up, knocking on the door for several minutes and then letting himself in, according to the affidavit.
“(The victim) stated that he (Hammond) immediately took her car keys and her cell phone and put them in his pocket. She asked him not to hurt her and he replied saying you will get what you deserve” the affidavit stated.
Hammond made the victim remove her clothes before he hit, smack, choked and sexually assaulted her, the affidavit stated. The woman told investigators that she was choked at times to the point of passing out.
“She stated that she was told by Hammond that if she reported this to the police or went to the hospital that he would finish what he started and kill her,” the affidavit stated.
The victim later went to the hospital and reported the incident, in which she met with detectives on Tuesday, Sept 1 to tell them what happened and pursue charges.
Hammond was charged with rape and kidnapping in the incident.
