Nadine Steele, First Vice-President and Empowering Woman Chairwoman, will present Ford with a framed certificate and blue cobalt glass award during the City Federation’s annual award luncheon in 2021. The luncheon was originally scheduled in June of this year, but was postponed due to the coronavirus.
“Wendy G. Ford is an outstanding citizen of this community and very deserving of this prestigious award,” Steele stated.
Ford has received numerous other awards for her volunteer work including the African American Community Fund Award of the Springfield Foundation in 2018, the release stated. Before retiring, she was an active educator and served as the Springfield City School District Human Resources Director.
She is a founding member of the Alumni of Distinction Award Steering Committee of the Springfield City School District, and has served on many boards including the United Senior Services, OIC of Clark County, Wittenberg Guild, WASSO, the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and the Community Health Foundation, the release stated.
