Secret Service investigation underway at Springfield house

Local and federal law enforcement were involved in an investigation at a house in Springfield Tuesday afternoon.

Springfield police confirmed that they assisted the Secret Service in an investigation in the 200 block of W. Liberty Street, but were unable to provide more information.

A Springfield Police Division evidence collection unit was seen at the scene Tuesday evening, and law enforcement removed boxes of potential evidence, including a computer hard drive.

The Secret Service declined to comment on the investigation, adding, “As with any potential investigation, any future actions would be disclosed in conjunction with the United States Department of Justice or local prosecutors.”
