Springfield police are investigating after a woman was dropped off at a hospital with a gunshot wound.

A Springfield police officer was at Springfield Regional Medical Center around 8:35 p.m. on Monday completing another report when an unknown man approached him and told him that a woman was just dropped off and had suffered a gunshot wound to her left hip, according to a Springfield police report.

“The male informed (the officer) that a man had got out of a white Jeep Patriot and ran into the lobby screaming. The male also stated that it appeared a male was driving the vehicle,” the report stated.

The officer was unable to find the man who ran into the lobby but did see the Jeep drive away. The vehicle was later found in the employee parking lot of the hospital.

The woman was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital to be treated for her injuries, the report stated. She was shot somewhere near West Pleasant and South Yellow Springs Street.

No other suspect or witness information was available.

Springfield police continue their investigation into this shooting.
