A celebration of life for extended family, friends and colleagues will be held in Springfield at a future date yet to be determined.
Gehret passed away unexpectedly on Sunday of natural causes, according to his obituary.
“Ivan loved spending time with his family, especially on long road trips throughout the United States,” his obituary stated.
He was Tecumseh’s assistant superintendent since 2018, and had worked with the district for 22 years.
“He was a committed and dedicated educator,” his obituary stated. “Ivan was passionate about his students and always put them first. He was loyal to the district and took special pride in being an Arrow.”
He is survived by his wife, DeAnna; three children, Mitchell, David and Ellie; six siblings; father and mother-in law; brothers and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, his obituary stated.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations be given to the Tecumseh Education Foundation at P.O. Box 305, New Carlisle, OH 45344, according to the obituary. The established Ivan Gehret Scholarship Fund will support graduating Tecumseh High School seniors.
