At a 40 percent increase, a major focus during the project expansion is the company’s fresh food selection, according to the release. Shoppers will have access to a larger produce selection, grab-and-go snacks and organic products.

ALDI has been aggressively growing its capacity over the last year, with plans to increase its store count from 1,800 to 2,500 by 2022 and remodel 1,300 existing stores by 2020. The grocery chain is halfway through the planned remodels, which include more refrigeration space.

“The continued success of our store expansion and remodel initiatives has given us the opportunity to carefully select and introduce new products that satisfy our customers’ increasing preferences for fresh items, including organic meats, salad bowls, sliced fruits and gourmet cheeses,” said Jason Hart, CEO of ALDI U.S. “We know people lead busy lives, so we’re making it even easier for them to purchase everything on their shopping list at ALDI, while still saving money.”

There are 13 ALDI stores in the Dayton area.
