PHOTOS: 10th anniversary of deadly shooting of Clark County Deputy Suzanne Hopper

Ten years ago today, Clark County Deputy Suzanne Hopper responded to a call of shots fired at Enon Beach. As she was taking photos of a footprint in the area, 57-year-old Michael Ferryman came out of his trailer and shot her at close range. Her partner, Dusty White, put out an officer down call and law enforcement from all over responded to the scene. A gun battle ensued between Ferryman and responding officers. Jeremy Blum, from the German Township Police Department, was shot as he was advancing toward Ferryman’s trailer. Blum survived but Hopper did not. Ferryman was fatally wounded by a Clark County deputy in the gun battle, which closed down I-70, the railroad, and Enon Road. MARSHALL GORBY/STAFF
