One killed in Bethel Twp. crash Friday ID’d

A 44-year-old man who was killed in Bethel Twp. Friday afternoon has been identified.

The Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol identified the victim as Marc Degrands, 44, of Yellow Springs, who died at the scene.

Emergency responders were dispatched around 1:40 p.m. to the crash at New Carlisle Pike and North Hampton Road — halfway between Springfield and New Carlisle.

Degrands, who was driving the Ford Escape, traveled north on North Hampton Road failed to yield at a stop sign and struck a Jeep traveling eastbound on New Carlisle Pike, according to the patrol. The collision carried both vehicles off the left side of New Carlisle Pike.

The driver of the Jeep Liberty had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The patrol was assisted on scene by Bethel Twp. Fire Department and EMS, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Clark County Coroner’s Office and Dan’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation at this time, OSHP said.
