Northeastern Local Schools will begin transitioning to full-time, in-person learning starting Feb. 16, according to the district’s superintendent.

Students will continue the hybrid learning model through Friday, Feb. 12.

“Over the first two weeks of February, staff members will prepare for the transition to full-time, in-person learning for students in the in-person learning model,” Superintendent John Kronour said.

All students will attend school in-person each day starting the week of Feb. 15, except Wednesdays will be virtual learning days, Kronour said.

All students will attend school in-person Monday through Friday starting March 1.

Kronour said students using the virtual learning option will continue learning online.

“During the transition, the district will work with the Clark County Combined Health District to closely monitor COVID-19 case numbers in the district. The school attendance schedule may be adjusted due to staffing levels, the number of cases in the district or community, and local health circumstances,” Kronour said.

For the week of Jan. 19-25, Northeastern reported 10 student and one staff case.

Along with transitioning to in-person learning, Kronour said the district has adopted the new quarantine guidelines introduced by the health district, which were created based on low transmission COVID-19 cases in the school settings when students and staff are wearing masks and practicing other protocols.

“With the new quarantine guidelines, we are hopeful that we will be able to maintain educational continuity for students while continuing to keep students, staff and families safe by following quarantine practices recommended by health professions,” Kronour said.
