The new McDonald’s restaurant in New Carlisle will open to the public early in the morning of Sept. 12, and will celebrate with two events in the first three days, according to store officials.

The fast food restaurant is located at 500 N. Main St. in front of the IGA out-lot and is owned and operated by Godlove Family Restaurants.

The restaurant will open Thursday, Sept. 12 at 5 a.m. (which will be the daily opening time), and there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m. that day, including Mayor William Crook, Vice Mayor Peggy Eggleston, Fire Chief Steve Trusty and members of New Carlisle city council. A VIP reception will be held after the ceremony.

Then on Saturday, Sept. 14, a community grand opening celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring music, activities, a prize wheel and the McDonald’s character Grimace. The first 50 customers will get a free meal coupon.

“We have a legacy of involvement in the communities we serve,” said Eric Godlove, who owns and operates 23 McDonald’s in the Dayton and Northern Cincinnati areas. “We will carry on that tradition by continuing to serve the New Carlisle community and offer employment opportunities.”

The new McDonald’s, which had a groundbreaking in May, will be 3,694 square feet with a 15-foot sign. It will include indoor seating for 38 people, have a double-lane drive-thru with mobile ordering technology, self-ordering stations with cash payment capabilities in the lobby, and parking for 40 cars, including two accessible spaces.

The restaurant, which will employ over 60 people according to a company statement, will be open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 5 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. It is the first McDonald’s in New Carlisle’s general business district.

On Sept. 11, in remembrance of the 9/11 attacks, the restaurant will have a special offer only for first responders and veterans, offering certain free food items on a limited list.

Two other events coming in the first month are a “McFamily Night” from 4-8 p.m. Sept. 18 with goody bags for kids and a chance to meet Grimace, plus a Sept. 26 party and digital fundraiser with 10% of all digital app sales donated to Tecumseh High School athletics. Team members will be available from 4-7 p.m. to help with downloading and using the mobile app, and there will be a prize wheel for customers to win prizes.

New Carlisle will soon get a new Taco Bell restaurant as well, at 408 N. Main St., where site work is underway. A projected opening date has not been announced.
