Multiple departments respond to South Charleston fire

Multiple departments were on the scene for about two hours battling a fire in South Charleston on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire started around 2:15 p.m. in the first block of Oak Street. The fire was placed under control after 4 p.m.

A modified mobile home was destroyed in the fire.

Officials said two people lived in the home, and Red Cross officials were contacted to assist the residents.

Madison Twp. Fire Chief Chris Clark said firefighters arrived to find the structure fully engulfed in flames. He said the home and its contents were a total loss.

Madison Twp. received mutual aid from Pitchin, Harmony Twp. and Cedarville departments.

Dismal for Southeastern Local Schools was not disrupted, and buses arrived to get students around normal times, according to Superintendent David Shea.

No other details were immediately available.
