The goal of the project is to enhance those offices and the common areas for patients, according to a news release from Mercy Health.
It also includes the expansion of specialized telecare, telestroke and telecardiology services offered at the hospital, which is located at 904 Scioto St., the news release added.
“This technology enables specialists with Mercy Health Physicians to use virtual monitors at Urbana Hospital to remotely connect with patients and provide consultations,” said Jamie Houseman, the president of the Urbana Hospital.
“The patients can stay at Urbana Hospital instead of traveling to Springfield Regional Medical Center for specialist care,” she added.
The hospital has also added a second ultrasound machine, which allows for expanded hours in outpatient services. It also allows for more scheduled tests to accommodate patients, said representatives of Mercy Health.
Those enhancements are part of an overall $1.3 million investment that has been made to the hospital’s campus.
That includes additional on-site mammography services as well as renovations to inpatient spaces, the emergency department, operating rooms and the central sterile services department.
It also included the construction of a new, covered front entrance at the hospital as well as renovations to its first floor, including a new registration area.
The hospital also saw a $3 million renovation and service expansion project take place in 2017.
