Man shot, killed in Springfield identified

A Springfield man who died after being shot multiple times on Monday morning in Springfield has been identified as Nathan Zimmerman, 19, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Zimmerman was found lying in the back of a Honda Accord around 8:30 a.m. on Monday in the area of Clifton Avenue and East Euclid Avenue, according to a Springfield police report.

The report said Zimmerman suffered from multiple gunshot wounds and could not speak. The Springfield Fire Division arrived on scene a short time after police and took him to Springfield Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Zimmerman’s cause of death has been labeled a homicide, the report said.

Multiple police, the Crime Scene Unit and the Investigations Unit all responded to the scene of the incident, which remains under investigation.

A small memorial has been placed at the site where the car was previously located.
