Woman set on fire in Springfield; detectives, fire marshal investigate

A woman was set on fire late Friday morning, which has prompted a joint investigation by Springfield police and fire divisions.

Crews were called around 11:05 a.m. to the 300 block of Fair Street.

“A woman was transported to the hospital with injuries from burns,” Springfield police Lt. Jeff Williams said.

The woman, who was not identified, was transferred to Miami Valley Hospital, where she is in unknown condition, Williams said.

There were varying descriptions given of a possible suspect, the lieutenant said.

“Multiple people are being interviewed,” Williams said.

Springfield police detectives and the city’s fire marshal are investigating.
