Besides the major grocery stores, here are some of our favorite go-to places for pies:
Mehaffie's Pies, 3013 Linden Ave., offers 30 different types of pies. For orders, call 937-253-1163, preferably two days in advance. Pick up your pies Monday through Wednesday before Thanksgiving from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. The bakery will also have plenty of pies (especially pumpkin, apple, pecan and chocolate) available for walk-in purchases as well. Ghostlight Coffee, 1201 Wayne Ave. is taking orders for its popular Ghostlight Thanksgiving Pie ($19), a pumpkin and maple custard with a Graham cracker bottom and Kentucky bourbon pecan top. The coffee shop/bakery also offers Mama Smith's fantastic apple pie ($15), made with apples from Pfeifer Orchards in Yellow Springs; pumpkin & maple ($15); Kentucky bourbon pecan ($15); bourbon sweet potato ($19 and gluten free), and cranberry apple with pecan crumble ($19 and gluten free).
Plus, there are gluten-free dinner rolls (6 pack for $6), pumpkin snickerdoodles (a dozen vegan and nut free, $8); and Fall Tonic Autumn Blend coffee (12 ounces, $14.25). Ashley's Pastry Shop, 21 Park Ave. in Oakwood, is taking orders for all sorts of pies, including apple, cherry, pumpkin, pecan, lemon meringue, chocolate cream and blueberry. Prices are $10.95-$15.95. The bakery also makes cakes, cookies, cupcakes, cake pops, traditional dinner rolls and its famous butterscotch rolls.

Owner Theresa Hammons told us she sold 780 dozen butterscotch rolls on the day before Thanksgiving last year and shipped another 300 dozen all over the country. “Thanksgiving is about tradition,” Hammons said. “Sharing a meal together with the ones you love.”

Evans Bakery, 700 Troy St., is taking orders for 15 different types of pies, ranging from pumpkin and sweet potato to peanut butter and pecan. They also offer rolls (challah to potato to butter flake), cookies and more. Try to call by Monday, Nov. 21. The last day to pick up your goodies is Wednesday, Nov. 23, between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. Owner Jennifer Evans also told us she'd have some pies available for walk-ins that week. Dorothy Lane Market is offering traditional pumpkin, pecan, apple, apple crumb, caramel apple, cherry, peach, strawberry rhubarb and mincemeat, as well as an assortment of cream pies. Most pies are $10.99 to $14.99. It's best to order 24 hours in advance, if possible, and pickup deadline for Thanksgiving is Wednesday at midnight. The stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Pearson House Restaurant, 28 N. Miami St. in West Milton, is known for its decadent pies and is taking orders for more than 30 types, including pumpkin, pecan, turtle, chocolate peanut butter silk, cranberry-walnut and strawberry rhubarb.
