While most visitors tried to find a spot that offered a little shade, they relaxed in their car with the air conditioner as the parade passed by.
“Normally we couldn’t get a spot like this,” Mr. Rothery joked.
Chelsea Neff, of New Carlisle, said she likes to watch the parade every year with her daughter Alyssa, 3. They watched the fireworks earlier at the village’s Veterans of Foreign Wars post. She said the crowd was thinner than in some previous years, possibly because of the heat. That allowed them to get a better spot along the parade route as well.
“She’s ready to get some candy,” Neff said of her daughter.
Neff said the family was planning to spend the rest of the week at the Country Concert in Fort Loramie. The three-day concert runs from July 5 to 7.

Tony and Molly Brodess said they haven’t been to Enon’s parade for a few years but wanted to bring their daughter Aubrey.
“Our daughter loves the parade,” Molly Brodess said. “She loves the marching bands and when they throw out the candy.”
Molly Brodess said they planned to attend the fireworks show in Fairborn and spend the rest of the day cooking out or relaxing by the pool to cool off.
