Arrest made after 1 of 2 stabbing victims found at Bellefontaine Walmart

A man was arrested in connection to a stabbing in a Bellefontaine apartment, where two people had to be flown to area hospitals early Sunday morning, according to a Bellefontaine police report and jail records.

Officers responded to the Walmart, 2281 S. Main St., after one of the victims walked into the grocery entrance of the business around 4:10 a.m.

“The male had numerous lacerations and puncture wounds,” the police report read.

Officers said the victim was in and out of consciousness and had to be flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. His condition was not immediately known.

A second victim was taken to Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine by a private vehicle and was flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. The second victim’s condition was not immediately available.

Later in the morning, an officer observed a man matching the description of the possible suspect in the stabbing at South View Park and took him into custody.

Juan Corio Corio, 30, who is listed as a suspect in the police report, is currently being held in the Logan County Jail on a preliminary charge of felonious assault, records show

According to the report, the stabbing appeared to stem from a fight at an apartment in the 500 block of Gunntown Road. Officers followed a blood trail from the Walmart to the apartment.

The apartment has blood scattered throughout and police recovered a pair of scissors covered with blood, the report read.
