Developmental Disabilities of Clark County serves 1,150 children and adults and aims to support people with developmental disabilities so they can live independently and learn job skills, according to a release from the organizations.
TAC employs 260 adults with disabilities, CEO Mary Brandstetter said.
The organizations were started by parents who didn’t want their children with disabilities to have to leave the community, she said.
“It’s a milestone we’re very proud of,” Brandstetter said of the 65 year anniversary.
TAC is the sole provider of cargo nets for the air force, she said.
A fundraiser for TAC will be held on Oct. 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at United Senior Services, 125 W. Main St., Springfield. Several items will be available for auction, including show tickets, buckeye tickets, home tools and dinner reservations.
Most of the items have been donated, Brandstetter said, and the proceeds will go toward the purchase of vehicles to take employees to events and volunteer opportunities.
The winner of the cash connection raffle will also be announced at the event. Tickets for the raffle are still available, Brandstetter said, and only 500 will be sold. Each ticket is $25.
The first prize winner will receive $2,500, she said.
Brandstetter said she is thankful to the community for their support over the last 65 years.
