A new Italian restaurant, Fratelli’s Famiglia Ristorante, has opened in downtown Springfield at 42 N. Fountain Ave.

The restaurant is joining Le Torte Dolci, Salato Deli, Champion City Guide + Supply, Winans Chocolates & Coffees, Stella Bleu Bistro and Sip & Dipity Paint Bar on Fountain Avenue.

“This corner is like gold,” owner Peter Catanzaro said. “We had always talked about opening something like this, but I would never have thought we would have had the chance for something like this here.”

Here are three things to know about Fratelli’s:

1. The restaurant is owned by brothers, Peter and Dominic Catanzaro. This is their first restaurant.

2. Fratelli's is offering a limited menu during their soft opening that includes bruschetta, Italian chicken soup, spaghetti and meatballs, carbonara, chicken parmesan, lasagna, and ravioli. Their full menu is expected to be posted next week.

3. The owners have done an extensive renovation to the location -  pulling up carpet and rearranging everything from the bar to the bathrooms.
