3 things to check out at the Fair at New Boston

Labor Day weekend means firing up the grill, college football and that much needed three-day weekend as it marks the unofficial end of summer.

In Clark County, Labor Day weekend also marks the annual Fair at New Boston. Here are some facts to know about the annual festival.

History: The Fair at New Boston looks back at the village of New Boston. The village was close to becoming the county seat of Clark County, but was narrowly beaten by Springfield. This area was also home to the Peckuwe Shawnee tribe. This area is also the birthplace of Tecumseh.

Food: What sets this festival a part from others is the food items available. The food available are ones you would find during settling of Ohio, including Scotch eggs, buffalo sandwiches and turkey legs.

Festival: Each year the fair will focus on a particular year and this year's theme is 1800. Aside from the historical education, there are games for children, as well as a re-enactment of the the Battle of Peckuwe.
