Phineas P. Mast founded the Mast-Foos Manufacturing Company in 1876, one of multiple business and industry ventures for the entrepreneur.

The company made Iron Turbine Wind Engines, Buckeye Force Pumps, plows, and lawn mowers.

The original windmill “buckets” from one of the iron turbines manufactured by Mast-Foos are on display at the Heritage Center, next to a life-sized reproduction that reaches to the second floor.

These water-pumping windmills played a vital role in allowing for farmers to expand out West and settle in areas that didn’t have traditional water access.
