Gallas Zadeh Development, based in Columbus, is listed as the developer of the project. Officials from that company couldn’t be reached for comment this week. The store has been open for several weeks, although the developer’s website said the store was expected to open this month.

Greg Gallas, an owner of the development firm, told the Springfield News-Sun last year that the Seattle-based chain has been looking at a possible standalone store in Springfield off and on for a long time. The developer's website also highlight's the area's demographics, including an average 2015 household income of $35,255 and a 2014 population of about 60,000 people.

Springfield has Starbucks kiosks on the Wittenberg University campus and in the Courtyard by Marriott downtown but not a standalone shop. The new store has 32 parking spaces, a drive-through and a 300-square-foot outdoor patio, according to documents submitted to Springfield’s planning and zoning division.

According to the developer’s website, Gallas Zadeh Development was founded in 2010 and has developed more than 50 projects.
The company lists its other commercial projects including Grandview Crossing, a mixed-use development on more than 50 acres in Columbus set to open next year. The site also lists the Hamilton Commerce Center, a retail project in Gahanna.
