A longtime Springfield vending firm is planning an expansion expected to begin next Spring, after company officials said they have outgrown their current facility.

Sheehan Brothers Vending is planning an expansion to add a new state-of-the-art commercial kitchen onto their existing facility, freeing up space in their current site for more storage and office space. The exact size of the additional space is still in the planning stages, Dan Sheehan, the company’s vice president, estimated it could be a roughly 10,000 to 12,000 square-foot expansion.

The company recently finalized an agreement with Roger Storer and Son Inc., a neighboring business, to purchase about two acres of land to make the expansion possible. The expansion is expected to lead to additional hiring as the vending company grows, Sheehan said, although its too early to say how many new workers will be needed.

“Our growth in the last five years has been the largest we’ve had in the history of our company,” Sheehan said.
