The maze of tracks around the depot spoke to how busy the area was with passenger trains arriving and departing frequently, especially during the holiday season. Industrial trains also made numerous deliveries for many industries in town.

Today, the Big 4 Depot is long gone, and the criss-crossing tracks have been replaced with one that doesn't stop in Springfield anymore.
