The company made the announcement Tuesday on Twitter with a video.
The video shows customers trying the sandwich, the long lines they endured and the “sold out” signs posted at various restaurants.

Even though the chicken sandwiches are sold out, the company said they are working with suppliers to put it back on the menu “for good.”
Customers at the Springfield location are limited to two chicken sandwiches and are unable to order a sandwich before 11 a.m. due to the limited supply. Separate transactions are not allowed.
Managers at the Springfield Popeyes were unable to answer additional questions for the press and it’s unclear how long there supply will last.
Mikayla Barnett and her boyfriend, Donnell Sammons, were at the Springfield Popeyes on Wednesday to try the sandwich.
“He’s been here the past four days, to get it (the chicken sandwich),” Barnett said.

Barnett wanted to try the sandwich because of all the rage on social media.
There has been a continuous debate on whether Popeyes’ is better than Chick-fil-A’s chicken sandwich.
Sammons likes the Popeyes’ sandwich better, according to Barnett.
Popeyes did not announce when the chicken sandwich will return, but customers are encouraged to download the restaurant’s app and turn on push notifications for the latest updates.
The Springfield location is open Monday-Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
