The new owner of Cinema 10 in Springfield is making moves to update the theater.

United Entertainment Corp., a national entertainment company based out of Minnesota, revealed it will begin making improvements immediately.

UEC “plans to reinvest in the theatres and make some immediate improvements to the Cinema 10, most notably leather, power reclining seats with extra legroom, new carpet and wall coverings,” according to a news release.

Other new roll outs will be advance and online ticket services, as well as a loyalty rewards program.

The theater will also introduce self-serve Coca-Cola machines with free refills and Grab-N-Go coolers with various juices and iced coffees.

Chakeres Theatres, Inc. recently sold the theater to UEC for $800,000 after owning it for over 30 years, according to the Clark County Auditor’s website. Cinema 10 is the only movie theater in the city.

Celina Cinema 5, which was previously owned by Chakeres, was also acquired by UEC.

UEC President Mike Ross said, “We are excited to continue the independent theatre ownership that Chakeres Theatres is known for. Having theatres in other Ohio cities like Norwalk, Mount Vernon and Cambridge gives us a base of operations and knowledge of the state.”

Cinema 10 will remain open during renovations, but fewer screens will be available.
