A local accounting firm has relocated to the second floor of the former Springfield News-Sun building, 202 N. Limestone St.

LWS Tax & Accounting held a ribbon-cutting and open house Tuesday afternoon. The business moved in to its new location last month. It was formerly located on Home Road.

“We just love being downtown and being a part of Springfield,” LWS Tax owner Blake Shaffer said. “It was my dream to come down here when we started the company.”

The accounting firm is the fifth client at the former newspaper building now owned by Jim Lagos. The building was the first property in nearly 30 years placed on the local historic landmarks list after it reportedly faced the wrecking ball in October 2014.
